The popularity of tequila has popped off over the past decade, as more celebs got involved in the space-

The colour and taste profile of tequila is dependant on the aging process in wooden barrels.

So the longer it’s aged- the colour changes, more flavours develop and the liquor gets stronger.

Next time you drink tequila, look for these things:

• Anejo: aged 1 to 3 years, colour is deep gold

• Reposado: aged 2 months to 1 year, colour is faint gold

• Blanco: usually not aged, bottled after distillation, colour is clear
